Bishop Brown's Joyful Visitation!

From left to right: Dawna Dennis, Victoria Van Zanten, Juliet Van Zanten, Jennifer Van Zanten, and Janis Tomlinson, who were confirmed, Bishop Brown, Fr. Wayne, and Mike Bailey and Mike Dennis, who were received at our worship on September 8. All are familiar, but now "official." Welcome!

A reception and Ministry Fair followed the service

We held a Ministry Fair during the reception for our Confirmands and newly received members during Bishop Brown’s visit. Brochures describing the many ministries of Immanuel Highlands are available in the literature racks in the lobby.

A great heartfelt “thank you” to all those who prepared materials and information for our Ministry Fair last Sunday. Also, to Barb Volko, Laurie Hay, and their crew for providing a wonderful reception for us.

Sunday, September 15, 9:00 a.m. Adult Education: We will begin discussing the prologue of GRATEFUL - The Subversive Practice of Giving Thanks by Diana Butler Bass. Each session starts and ends with a prayer, and members will take turns leading our weekly discussions. Come join us, even if you have not read the prologue. Sunday School will begin on September 22

We are making some changes this year!

Children up through third grade will continue to use Godly Play, based on the Montessori method of childhood education. Those in grades 4-6 will use a new curriculum called Weaving God’s Promises. It follows the Lectionary and seasons of the church year.

Middle School aged youth will use Rite 13, a program that gets into more discussion about scripture, the church, and leads to Confirmation. Then, a program known as J2A, or Journey to Adulthood, helps teens prepare for their entry into the wider world as they look to graduation, college, and moving out on their own.

All these programs are ours as we need them. Parents, children and youth are invited to explore them in greater detail by contacting the parish office or by speaking with our education leaders and Fr. Wayne.
