On May 15, we received the names of all interested candidates for our nationally posted rector position. Our team was ecstatic to finally get to know these people and understand how they would possibly fit into our Immanuel home.
Introductory emails were sent and subsequent calls were made to set up first interviews via Zoom. These first interviews took place between May 23 and June 7, with all search Team members present. The second week of June, we narrowed the field slightly and proceeded to organize our next level of questions, more specific to each candidate. Our second interviews also took place via Zoom and occurred June 26-29, again with all team members present. We narrowed the field further. These final candidate names have been submitted to the Diocesan Standing Committee for approval. This week, July 3, these final candidates are invited to join our treasurer for a 20 minute finance presentation. Learning about Immanuel’s finances we believe is an important step towards being as transparent as possible. Our next steps will be to check references, and invite candidates for in-person interviews. Stay tuned!

After many weeks of thoughtful discussion and discernment, the rector search committee is pleased to announce our approach to calling a new priest. Our approach recognizes that our future must include children, youth, and their families, increased lay involvement in the parish, and financial solvency.
Within a full-time position, the new rector will be asked to dedicate 75% of his or her time to the ordinary duties of a rector and 25% as the catalyst for strengthening our lay-led programs for children and youth. The “youth” portion of the rector’s salary will be covered by an endowment fund restricted to that purpose. The “rector” portion of the salary will be covered by our operating budget. Having a preacher on only three of four Sundays will increase the visible lay involvement of the parish and reinforce our commitment to financial discipline. We hope to post the position soon and will be sure to keep you up to date about our progress. The committee comprises Barb Volko, Connie Shultz, Colt Flue, Carl Burnam, and Tom Fairchild. We are grateful for your faith in us and look forward to calling a rector for this exciting next chapter in our mutual ministry. SEARCH TEAM MEMBERS (L-R): Tom Fairchild, Connie Shultz, Colt Fleu, Barb Volko, Carl Burnam Where are we in the search? Right at the very beginning, but making steady progress!
Please remember us in your prayers for your church family. We are excited and energized in hope and expectation for where God is leading us. This page will be updated regularly so check back often to follow our process and progress! Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BCP, page 818 |
