STAFF
Steven is originally from Kennett Square, PA and serves as Organist and Choirmaster of Immanuel’s music program. As choral conductor, he chooses music from Renaissance to contemporary styles, and prepares the choir to sing a wide variety of hymns, chants, anthems, and service music.
As organist, he plays repertoire from Baroque to modern, selecting music to support each week’s liturgical themes. He has performed organ recitals in the U.S. and abroad, including Trinity Church Boston, Harvard's Busch Hall Museum, Princeton University Chapel, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, Longwood Gardens Grand Ballroom, Kelvingrove Art Museum, Glasgow, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, London. He received degrees from the Oberlin College Conservatory, and the New England Conservatory, studying organ with David Boe, Garth Peacock, Ray Urwin and William Porter; harpsichord with Lisa Goode Crawford; and choral conducting with Daniel Moe and Donald Teeters. Steven is also a piano and organ teacher who enjoys guiding musicians of all ages. He is glad to direct music at Immanuel in roles as organist, teacher, and choral director. |
