ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
Sunday, January 23, 2022 Dear fellow members of Immanuel, This Sunday we will have a single worship service, at 9:30 AM, immediately followed by our Annual Congregational Meeting. We expect the meeting to begin at 10:45 AM, or five minutes after the conclusion of the Eucharist, whichever is later. We hope to adjourn no later than noon, and we urge all of you “communicants in good standing” to be present. If you are unable to attend in person, the meeting will also be available as Livestream on Facebook, using the same link as for the service. The purpose of the meeting, according to Article III of our bylaws, is the election of three Vestry members, to replace those whose term is expiring. We will also consider and vote on two amendments, as called for in Article XIV of the current bylaws. All “members in good standing” should plan to attend and cast votes on these items of church business. The candidates nominated for Vestry are ● Gretchen Broadwater ● Suzanne Moon ● Bonnie Swan They will replace Alex Lehr-Maunder, Janis Murray, and Carl Burnam, whose terms are expiring. The proposed amendments to the bylaws are 1. To change the official name of the church, currently stated as “Immanuel Church, Highlands” to “Immanuel Highlands Episcopal Church.” The purpose of the change is to make our bylaw name consistent with official external documents; 2. To permit official Vestry decisions to be made by means other than in-person Vestry meetings, such as email exchanges or video conferences. We will also have the opportunity to review minutes from last year’s meeting, and receive a report from the Finance Committee. You should be receiving an email packet of ministry reports on Friday 1/21, and there will be a limited number of printed copies available at the meeting. Please note the revised Covid-19 protocols, effective immediately. Carl Burnam and Jan Murray, Wardens |
