STEVEN PATCHEL, DIRECTOR OF MUSIC
ORGANIST AND CHOIR DIRECTOR |
ORGANIST AND CHOIRMASTER
Steven is originally from Kennett Square, PA and serves as Organist and Choir Director of Immanuel’s music program. As choral conductor, he chooses music from Renaissance to contemporary styles, and prepares the choir to sing a wide variety of hymns, chants, anthems, and service music. As organist, he plays a repertoire from Baroque to modern, selecting music to support each week’s liturgical themes. He has performed organ recitals in the U.S. and abroad, including Trinity Church Boston, Harvard Busch Hall Museum, Princeton University Chapel, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Saint Thomas Church, New York, Kelvingrove Art Museum, Glasgow, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, London. He received degrees from the Oberlin College Conservatory, and the New England Conservatory, studying organ with David Boe, Garth Peacock, Ray Urwin and William Porter; harpsichord with Lisa Goode Crawford; and choral conducting with Daniel Moe and Donald Teeters. Steven is also a piano and organ teacher who enjoys guiding musicians of all ages. He is glad to continue the tradition of excellent music at Immanuel in his roles as organist, teacher, and choral director. |
